The owner of Colorado’s Golden Moon Distillery, Stephen Gould, is seeking a buyer for part or all of his business.
Gould, who is also master distiller for Golden Moon, cited the “need for more horsepower” as the main factor in the decision.
He explained: “We have poured so much effort into this project over the last 15 years and want to see Golden Moon Distillery and its brands grow to their potential.
“We faced challenges over the last few years due to Covid, the trade wars etc, as everyone has in the beverage world, but we emerged even stronger. The reality is that Golden Moon Distillery needs more horsepower to scale and utilise what we’ve already built to reach the company’s full potential.
“There’s only so much I can do alone as a master distiller and business operator. We have a great runway waiting for someone with a passion for the distillery business and I’m committed to supporting the venture going forward in any way I can.”
The distillery, located in Golden, Colorado, will be offered fully equipped, with intellectual property, work in progress, finished product and transferrable licensing all part of the deal.
Its tasting room, Golden Moon Speakeasy, will be included in the sale as well.
The company said the distillery’s current infrastructure allows for continued operations and gives new owners the ability to rapidly scale production and revenue.
“This is a great opportunity for parties interested in continuing to build an established and proven family of whiskey and spirits brands,” said Eric Weiler, principal of New Mill Capital, which has been hired to find a buyer for Golden Moon.
“Stephen defines master distiller and the awards he and the Golden Moon team have received are the proof. Stephen is willing to transition, consult and potentially remain on board as the master distiller which is an incredible advantage for an operator looking to advance in the whiskey and spirits market.”
The distillery makes gin, absinthe, liqueur and a variety of whiskeys.
